3rd Webinar Towards a World without Nuclear Weapons: The International Group of Eminent Persons for a World without Nuclear Weapons (IGEP)

Since its establishment in 2022, the International Group of Eminent Persons for a World
without Nuclear Weapons (IGEP) has provided a forum for participants from both nuclear-weapon
States and non-nuclear-weapon States, as well as those from both participating and
non-participating countries in the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), to
exchange ideas and thoughts beyond their respective positions on concrete pathways towards
the realization of a “world without nuclear weapons”.

To help ensure a productive outcome at the 2026 NPT Review Conference, scheduled for
late April, the IGEP will host a webinar building on the recommendations issued at its sixth and
final meeting, titled “Stepping Back from the Nuclear Precipice: Urgent Actions in Pursuit of a
World without Nuclear Weapons”. This third webinar aims to foster dialogue on topics including
nuclear risk reduction, bridge the gap between disarmament and security, and address other
critical elements essential for achieving a successful outcome at the Conference.
