
Daisuke Kawai
Daisuke Kawai is a Research Fellow for Indo-Pacific Affairs at the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) where he focuses on security issues and regional order in the Indo-Pacific. His areas of expertise are Japan’s foreign / security policy, Indo-Pacific security and global governance, with an overarching research interest in emerging critical technologies.
He is also secretariat of the Council of Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP) Japan, and a Research Fellow at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS). Previously, he worked at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI).
Mr. Kawai holds Master’s degrees with Distinction at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London and the Department of Peace Studies, University of Bradford as a British Council Scholar. Beforehand, he read diplomacy at the University of Oxford.
