The Japan Institute of International Affairs co-hosted the 2021 Taiwan-US-Japan Trilateral Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue in a hybrid format on December 14, 2021, with the Prospect Foundation of Taiwan and the Center for a New American Security.

Following Taiwanese President Tsai In-wen's special address and former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo's keynote address, political leaders and experts from the three democracies actively exchanged their views on the challenges in the region, including democratic governance in the digital era and the resilience of regional supply chains. President Sasae gave closing remarks.
