The U.S.-Japan-Philippines Security Triangle: Enhancing Maritime Security, Shared Strategic Outlooks, and Defense Cooperation

The Japan Institute of International Affairs co-hosted the U.S.-Japan-Philippines Security Triangle: Enhancing Maritime Security, Shared Strategic Outlooks, and Defense Cooperation on September 6-7, 2022, in collaboration with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) of the United States (sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Japan).

Participants in this conference discussed the situation in the East and South China Seas, the current status of U.S. and Japanese capacity building assistance to the Philippines, the situation in the Taiwan Strait, and further possibilities for trilateral cooperation. Prior to the conference, a press conference was held at the U.S. Embassy to highlight the importance of trilateral cooperation.
