On July 28, 2025, The Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA）conducted the annual Strategic Dialogue with the Institute for National Policy Research (INPR, Taiwan) in Tokyo.

The meeting saw a lively exchange of views on the impact of Trump 2.0 on Japan and Taiwan, U.S.-China Relations, and Japan-Taiwan cooperation. The delegations were headed by Amb. Kenichiro Sasae, President of JIIA, and Dr. Tien Hung-mao, President of the INPR.
