To promomte broad-based policy discusiions in Japan, JIIA regularly hosts lectures featuring domestic and international experts. These events focus on key issues in Japanese diplomacy, including the global power shift, the Japan-US alliance, the architecture of the Asia-Pacific region, nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation and climate change.

Tokyo Global Dialogue

JIIA releases the Strategic Outlook (formerly the Strategic Annual Report) annually. The institute also hosts the Tokyo Global Dialogue—a major international symposium held under the same theme as the report, featuring numerous prominent figures and experts from both Japan and abroad.
