Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (hereinafter referred to as "the Terms") set forth the conditions for using the website (hereinafter referred to as "the Website") operated by the Japan Institute of International Affairs (hereinafter referred to as "the Institute"). Any person who uses the Website (hereinafter referred to as "User") is requested to use the Website in accordance with these Terms.
Article 1: Application
These Terms apply to all relationships related to the use of the Website between the User and the Institute. In addition to these Terms, the Institute may establish various rules and provisions (hereinafter referred to as "Individual Provisions") regarding the use of the Website. Regardless of the title, such Individual Provisions shall constitute a part of these Terms.
If any provision of these Terms conflicts with an Individual Provision, the Individual Provision shall prevail unless otherwise specifically stipulated therein.
Article 2: Intellectual Property Rights
Any content published on this Website—including text, images, videos, audio, and other materials—is the copyright of the Institute or third parties holding the respective rights. Unauthorized use is prohibited under copyright law and other applicable regulations. Use within the scope permitted by copyright law (such as for news reporting, research, or educational purposes) requires proper credit.

Please note that for content indicating a specific source, you must confirm usage rights directly with that source. Additionally, for materials related to specific individuals (such as research fellows), prior approval from JIIA is required to protect publicity and portrait rights. Article 3: Prohibited Acts
Users shall not engage in any of the following acts when using the Website:
- Acts that violate laws or public order and morality;

Article 4: Discontinuation of the Website
The Institute may discontinue or suspend the provision of the Website without prior notice for any of the following reasons:
- When performing maintenance, inspection, or updates to the computer system related to the Website;
- When the provision of the Website becomes difficult due to unavoidable circumstances such as natural disasters, including but not limited to earthquakes, lightning strikes, fires, or power outages;
- When computers or telecommunication lines are interrupted due to accidents;
- Any other situation in which the Institute determines that providing the Website has become difficult.
The Institute shall bear no liability for any disadvantage or damage suffered by a User or a third party arising from the discontinuation or suspension of the Website.
Article 5: Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitations
We do not guarantee that the Website is free from factual or legal defects (including, but not limited to, issues relating to safety, reliability, accuracy, integrity, efficacy, compatibility with specific purposes, security; errors; bugs; infringement of rights).
The Institute shall bear no liability for any damages incurred by users through the use of the Website, except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
The Institute may change or delete posted content without prior notice. Furthermore, we may modify the details or conditions of these Terms of Use without prior notice to Users.
Article 6: Handling of Personal Information
The Institute shall handle personal information obtained through the use of the Website appropriately and in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
Article 7: Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The interpretation and application of the Terms shall be governed by laws of Japan. All disputes arising in connection with the use of the Website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.
