About the Center for Territory and History
Currently, Japan faces a variety of differing views regarding territory, maritime issues, and historical perceptions in its surrounding international environment. In response to this situation, the Center for Territory and History was established in 2017 with the aim of conducting objective research and analysis on territorial and historical matters, and of widely disseminating the findings both domestically and internationally.

Study Groups
To advance research on territorial and historical issues, five study groups have been established. These groups engage in in-depth discussions to further explore topics within these fields.

Translation and Publication
To share research on territory, sovereignty, and history—as well as Japan's perspective on these topics—with international audiences, books are being translated into english and published.

Short-Term Fellowship Program for Young Overseas Researchers
As part of MOFA's subsidized support project for research on territory, sovereignty, and history studies, young researchers from South-East Asia are invited annually.
