Overview of the Japan-China Friendship Organization Journal Archive
Before the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China in 1972, various "Japan-China Friendship Organizations" were already engaged in private exchanges. This website provides access to journals published by these organizations prior to 1972. Thanks to the goodwill and cooperation of the relevant organizations, we have collected historically valuable materials, digitized them, and built a comprehensive database.
How did people view the situation in China and Japan's policy toward China during an era when information from the communist bloc was limited and ideological confrontation under the Cold War was intense? Contributions from key figures and quotations from People's Daily suggest that Chinese narratives may have influenced discussions in Japan even then. We invite you to use this resource to gain a multifaceted understanding--political, economic, and cultural--of the major event of Japan-China diplomatic normalization in the context of postwar Japanese political and diplomatic history.
